The Italian orienteering athlete Mattia Debertolis died on Tuesday at the World Games in Chengdu, China, after collapsing during the competition, the organizers said.
The 29 -year -old Deutscholis was found unconscious during an orientation running event on August 8th and died four days later. A joint explanation of the organizers of the world games and the International Orineering Federation (IOF).

The World Games is a multisport event that takes place every four years for disciplines that are not included in the Olympic Games.
“Although he received immediate medical care from one of the leading medical institutions of China, he died,” the explanation said.
It did not provide any details about the cause of death.
The athletes of orientation born navigate in a non -marked course with a card and a compass and, in the fastest time, strike in fixed areas along the route.
The event, which was about 50 kilometers outside of central -Chdu, took place in intensive heat and moisture with temperatures above 30 degrees.

Debertolis took part in the final of the men’s middle distance event when he collapsed.
The winner, Riccardo Rancan in Switzerland, completed the course in 45 minutes and 22 seconds.
Debertolis, together with 11 other athletes, was listed as “not ended” in official results.
According to the IOF website, he took the 137th place in the men’s ranking of the world of orientation world and has been participated in 2014.
As part of the Italian team, he took part in several world championships and world championships.
This is the 12th edition of the World Games and it runs until August 17th.
